Don’t Keep Your Money at Home

“Taiwan citizens get vouchers to go shopping”, a CNN headline said.  Most people showed the excitement for the consumption vouchers of 3600 dollars, while some people refused to use them. For those customers who use the vouchers, many shops also offer them bargains on products no matter if the products are foreign or local. My mom says that it is actually one of the economic stimulus packages of the Taiwanese government. After Taiwan joined WTO, many foreign products are imported with lower tariffs, which gives the Taiwanese consumers a variety of choices when they go shopping. With the consumption vouchers, products are even cheaper. On the other hand, Taiwanese products can also be exported to other WTO members. It’s beneficial for many people. Therefore, this phenomena is evidence of international trade being advantageous. We can use the money we earn to buy what we want from all over the world. In the version of Economics: Principles and Practices by Gary E. Clayton in Chapter 4 of Quest 3, it states that the Japanese use the dollars they receive for their automobiles to buy American cotton, soybeans, and airplanes. To sum up, these examples show us that the money that goes out will come back again through international trade, so don’t keep your money at home.

XD
